You Don’t Have to Eat the Whole Watermelon

“Don’t eat the whole watermelon!”
That’s what my daughter proudly shared one night at dinner when I asked what she’d learned at school that day.
She, like me, has ADHD—and thankfully, her school teaches executive functioning and time management strategies in ways I wish I had growing up. That simple watermelon phrase has stuck with me. Because when I’m facing a big project or life decision, I freeze. I procrastinate. I want it to be perfect. I can see the end result in my mind, but I have no idea where to start—let alone how to take all the little steps between now and the finish line.
It’s overwhelming. And it’s exactly why that watermelon advice hit home: you don’t have to do it all at once. Small bites matter.
At Stride Forward, we get it. We know how vulnerable it can feel to join a new group, take on a training goal, or even say out loud that you want something to change. That’s why we’re expanding what we offer—so you don’t have to “eat the whole watermelon” all at once.
